Government's narrative on progress
In March 2017, the Government of Canada transferred $30.2 million in potentially lapsing funding from a number of previously established funding programs to municipalities through the federal Gas Tax Fund (GTF). The government has also committed to transfer unused legacy funding to the GTF. For example, any funding under the Provincial-Territorial Infrastructure Component of the 2014 New Building Canada Fund not approved for projects by June 30, 2019 will be transferred to the GTF.
